Botham Vineyards & Winery

May 15, 2012 By Dale Bengston

What a gorgeous day to be at the Botham Winery. Spring has been so nice to us this year. The Botham Vineyard has several open houses with live music during the summer months – it’s well worth the drive from Madison. Or Northern Illinois. Or Iowa. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the (ahem) panoramic view from the patio, or lounge on the grass in the shade of majestic oaks on the lawn.

Oh, and I almost forgot… the wines are pretty good too. The Botham family has been making wine out here in Barneveld for nearly 20 years. Check their web site for the Tasting Room hours – you can sample wines indoors even when the weather’s not as beautiful as today. (The Tasting Room is in the big barn in the shot.) Tours are also available – check their site for details.

Full disclosure: Sarah and Peter Botham are good friends. You might spot them, along with a couple other famous people, in this shot.
