Mountain Grove Cemetery

August 8, 2014 By Dale Bengston

Mountain Grove Cemetery is just south of Huletts Landing, along the shore of Lake George. It’s a quintessential New England cemetery, with a stacked stone wall, a picturesque stone chapel (formally known as the Mountain Grove Memorial Church) and lots of weathered old gravestones. The Hulett family, founders of the Landing, are here.

Next door is a Catholic church, but Mountain Grove’s other neighbors are vacation cottages and Adirondack lodges. I’m sure the families in the cottages appreciate a quiet neighbor!

I like old graveyards. I’m seeing a trend:

No famous people are immortalized in this shot. There were several with me on this walk, but they ditched me as soon as I started setting up my tripod.
